Damon Winter born in Elmira, New York in 1974. He has a degree in environmental sciences for the University of Columbia.
He has worked in numerous publications like The Dallas Morning News, Newsweek, Magnum Photos, The Ventura County Star and The Indianapolis Star.
His essay about the victims of sexual abuse in the west of Alaska made Damon one of the finalists for the Pulitzer Award in 2005. In 2007 he joined The New York Times and that year he won the World Press Photo Award.
In 2008 he repeated as the winner of the Word Press Photo Award, but it is not until 2009 when he wins the Pulitzer Award for his work about Obama’s President.

This photograph is telling us what happened, what is going to happen, the past and the present. Hi is not recreating in pain, his point of view is *compasiva*. He not only put the woman in the centre of the photograph, he puts us in the centre of Haiti asking ourselves what are we going to do to fix the problem.
Nowadays Damon Winter is a freelance photographer who is specialized in documental information, portrait and editorial information. He has photographed numerous celebrities like Sean Penn, Scarlet Johansson, Kate Winslet, etc.
Trough the dual exposition of his lent he has reached to capture the beauty of natural landscapes and also artificial landscapes even in interior or exterior places.
Winter has covered a broad range of stories including conflicts in Israel and Afghanistan, 9/11 in New York, the Olympic Games and feature stories in Vietnam, Cuba, Russia and India.
